ok well never mind the help i needed with brakes, im pretty sure i blew my head gasket...oil smell like gas and is thin like watery, see a leak from the gasket, and the car shuts off if i dont give it gas and let the rpms drop all the way...anyway do u think im better off doin it myelf or havein the dealer do it..ive never done anyhting major like this before but it doesnt seem all that hard..how long would it take? i have a b16a in my hatch. im either gonna see if the dealer can do it tomorrow or take the car off teh road and go back to the auotmatic dx for a lil bit while i fix it...

Dude..if your head gasket is bad, you prolly have oil in your cooling system as well. This can be a big job, with all the flushing and cleaning. I wouldn't take it to a 'dealer'..they already gouge you...but try to find a reputable local mechanic that will fix it, but not charge you an arm & a leg for the work. you also have to take painstaking time to make sure ALL old gasket material is off the head and block..otherwise you're wasting time with a new one..it will still leak.
This is a job I'd leave to a pro, unless you have another vehicle..it isn't something I would expect to pull off on a Saturday afternoon...but I am not a real mechanic either..I just play one in my driveway
Good Luck
